"Works on Paper"
20 August - 29 September 2006

On the occasion of Stefan Szczesny's sculpture exhibition on the peninsula of Saint Tropez, the Château Volterra invited art friends to a cocktail reception in its private garden in Ramatuelle.

The Château was built by an English aristocrat, in 1906. In 1926, the property passed into hands of Léon Volterra, a theatre impresario from Paris. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, the Château saw a constant stream of celebrity guests, including actors and artists. The war years brougth frequent visitors from prominent figures from the French Resistance. In 1989, the Château fell into a long period of darkness.

In 1999, the Château was pruchased by a Canadian entrepreneur. His restauration of the building, gardens and vineyards has been a true labor of love. Today, the wine produced at the Château is one of the finest of Provence.
